5 Pointz Long Island City

so I got a chance to check out 5 Pointz in Queens and it was an awesome experience. I've heard about this place and I've seen crazy pictures but when i was actually there it was mind blowing. The talent that these artist have are ridiculous and sad because people don't think that this is art. All the art that you get to see in the area are hands down beautiful. I also got a chance to speak with one of the guys that volunteer there  and he schooled me and my friends. It was a chance to understand all the art that was on the walls and all the different challenges that they face. This is REAL graffiti not some of the shit that you see around manhattan. It's sad that people can't recognize the beauty in it and they need help. So to find out more about 5 pointz Click Here

YC The Cynic “Hello, Newman!”

YC The Cynic not to be confused with just YC. Yes, they are two different people one of them which can actually rap and the other that just made a catchy song that really is NEVER going anywhere. Anyways, YC the Cynic just released this song today "Hello, Newman!" I'm  going to assume that he might of been a fan of "Seinfield" ... well whatever it is this is a dope song and YC the Cynic is dope. So check it out:

Murs x Ski Beatz "Lets Go!"

the first time that i ever met murs was when I was an intern at Def Jux. He was really funny and told me that I should NEVER go no tour  with a bunch of dudes cus its gross. I still to this day i  have never been on tour. But I'm glad to see that he's still on his grind. This video is really different from his older stuff but I guess it's a new type of music coming out "Rap Rock" and he's doing his thing with it. Check it out

Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest REVIEW

I’ve watched many movies and none have really made me think and feel sad. I think that Michael Rapaport did an amazing job of getting this documentary done. I know that Q-Tip went crazy about it and tried to tell people not to watch it but I think it’s cus he thought he looked bad (which he did) but at the same time it is what it is. I mean if the other people in the group say the same things then I can’t think that they are all against him. At the same time I think that they needed to really talk it out and then hug it out. Sometimes stupid shit you need to forget about ESPECIALLY when you’re an influential group like them. The movie shows real emotions and thoughts. It’s something that you don’t see in hip hop.  Now, the reason why I was sad was not because of the whole beef that they had but because hip hop today isn’t like this anymore. The music doesn’t have the same feel and no matter what people may do today they won’t make that impact on the hip hop world like Tribe did. It made me remember that “mainstream” hip hop was actually good in the 90’s. Hip Hop was a fun and socially conscious. Artist wanted to be smart and they wanted people to think which is something artist don’t do anymore. Being in the music industry and having to listen to music that sucks it makes me sad to think that “mainstream” hip hop will never get back to that. There isn’t a new group today that would be able to have a documentary made about them that people would care about. If this movie made such an impact on my feelings it had to be AMAZING. So if you haven’t checked it out yet you should!!
